It’s still a long way from over

The Phillies are off to a good start to begin the 2025 season. People are saying this.
It’s led to some expectations being given about the team that is started to be reflected in national media. Just look at some of the power rankings that came out after this weekend. There were some that rightly put the Dodgers ahead of the Phillies, though that gap has certainly closed a bit. There are some that have the Phillies over the Dodgers, an acknowledgement of the here and now.
So, with that series over with, let’s see how you feel about two things. The first is easy: how’s your feeling about the team’s over/under right now?
The second pertains to where Edmundo Sosa should be playing more.
Sosa has gotten off to a hot start. This is fact.
There has also been demonstrable evidence that when given a lot of playing time, Sosa has had his weaknesses exposed a bit more. Last year, he was great filling in for Trea Turner, likely saving their season from collapse. Prior to that though, each time he was asked to play a little more than originally planned, he didn’t perform as well as he did in shorter bursts.
However, there is the “ride the hot bat” theory that if a player is hitting as well as Sosa is currently, he needs to stay in the lineup. With the Phillies, that can be a bit of an issue considering that the manager has stated his lack of a desire for a lot of platoons. Yet there are ways where he can fit Sosa into the lineup with a little more regularity depending on the situation.
That’s where the second question comes in. Where should Sosa even be playing more if he is going to get more regular playing time?
