It’s a big industry
The baseball card hobby has exploded in the past few years. Gone are the days of collecting simply to collect. The game has changed and become big business.
If you aren’t familiar, these days of baseball card collecting has become dominated by grading and breaking. “Breaking” is where sports card people go on camera to open, or “break”, boxes for people to watch. You can buy into a break where you pay money for a team, say the Phillies, and any Phillies card that is found, you get to keep. It’s a huge business now and, in my humble opinion, has killed the hobby.
If you’re wondering why, check out the prices for boxes of baseball cards these days.
However, they still hold a place in my heart. I do love opening baseball card packs with my son (and on my own) to see which players I received. There have been too many nights scrolling through eBay to see if any deals can be snagged to add to my (modest) collection.
Of my collection, here are two of my favorites:

The Clemente card was the first one I bought on my own from eBay. It was also the first card I sent in for grading as well. The McCutchen card, well, that pretty much speaks for itself.
Which brings us to our question of the day: what is your favorite baseball card you own, if you own any at all?
