That was some final round, wasn’t it?
If you were anything like me yesterday, you checked out of the Phillies game early and flipped over to the final round of the Masters. Had you done so, you don’t have to be reminded of how good that final round was to watch. The crowd favorite stumbling down the stretch, another favorite rising up to the challenge and a final showdown that brought most golf fans to their feet in applause.
The swing of emotions watching Rory McIlroy trying to capture his career Grand Slam was scintillating theater. Lost in all of that was the near perfect play of Justin Rose to even make the playoff a reality. It was a spectacle that anyone watching will not soon forget.
Which brings us to our question of the day: what is the baseball equivalent of what we watched yesterday in Augusta? The closest thing I can think of that would remind us that duel between the two heavyweights would be some version of a game seven, but I’m not sure who it would have to be between. Was this past World Series the best matchup we could get between two teams that rival McIlroy and Rose? I’m not so sure, but something would have to be close to that….right?
