Our quick look at Justin Crawford and Aidan Miller is over.
It’s typical for an organization’s top prospects to get some playing time early in big league camp in order to give them an ever so fleeting look against MLB (or close enough) competition. The Phillies are no exception, as they had their top two hitting prospects Aidan Miller and Justin Crawford open camp with the team. But as the roster begins to shrink the closer we get to Opening Day, it’s inevitable that such prospects are usually among the first cuts. That was the case on Tuesday when the team reassigned Miller and Crawford as well as a few other players to minor league camp.
Prior to today’s game, the Phillies made the following roster moves:
INF Aidan Miller & Carson Taylor, C Caleb Ricketts, OF Justin Crawford and LHP Tristan Garnett were reassigned to minor league camp.

The pair didn’t play in many games but did see some action. Miller appeared in six games and was hitless through nine at-bats. He drew three walks and struck out three times while scoring a run. Crawford appeared in seven games and went 3-10 (.300) at the plate with one strikeout and two walks. He flashed his elite speed in his short time, stealing two bases and scoring four runs.

It would be foolish to draw major conclusions either way about this miniscule sample size. But still, this was many fans first look at two players the organization is high on. Both will begin 2025 in Double-A Reading, with both perhaps on track to end the season in Triple-A, albeit Miller is probably a little bit ahead of Crawford.
Our question of the day is the following: What are your first impressions of Aidan Miller and Justin Crawford?
