Will Zack Wheeler finally get his Cy Young?
As with each new season, the TGP Collective put their prediction caps on and determine their most likely or favorable outcome for the 2025 MLB season. In previous years we’ve broken it down into four categories: Playoff Teams, Playoff Outcomes, End of Season Awards, and Phillies Specific Predictions. Sometimes we grade ourselves at the end of the season (if I remember or am not too depressed by the Phillies season outcome). The points assigned don’t really matter, just like Who’s Line is it Anyway?.
Now, onto the show…
Playoff Teams!

There seems to be a low confidence in the Phillies repeating as NL East Division Champs this season. The Braves getting both Ronald Acuna Jr. and Spencer Strider probably have a lot to do with that. Though everyone agrees our Fightin’s will be playing into October. No one can seem to agree on what the heck is going to happen with the NL Central. The Dodgers of course dominate the NL West landscape. Half of us declared that even with the addition of Juan Soto, the Mets will miss the playoffs entirely.
The AL predictions are completely all over the place, with no division having a slam dunk favorite. AL East? Yankees, RedSox, Orioles and Blue Jays all getting votes. The West? Guardians, Tigers, Twins and Royals get shout outs. The AL West sees a resurgence of the Texas Rangers, with the Astros and Mariners getting props as well.
Playoff Outcomes!

Our blog still believes in our Phillies to pull off the miracle of overcoming the Dodgers in the National League. We have a lone Braves prediction from Anthony, who will be reprimanded immediately and go into TGP Jail. Smarty and Rich choosing the most evil outcomes that the media would gush over and the rest of the MLB fandom vomit.
End of Season Awards!

Zack Wheeler Hive rise up! Wheeler is the only Phillie to get a majority of votes for an award, with the exception of our Blog Lord Ethan’s Bryce Harper MVP prediction. Most of us see a 2024 injured Brave taking the Comeback Award hardware. Roki Sasaki, the Dodgers big Japanese import, dominates the NL RoY voting. AL MVP voting is all over the place with five different players getting votes. Reigning AL Cy Young champ, Tarik Skubal, is predicted to repeat. Though some think he will have some competition from the new RedSox Ace, Garrett Crochet.
Phillies Predictions!

Who is the saves leader at the end of the season? There is no argument it will be one of the Phils “Big Three” of Jose Alvarado, Jordan Romano or Orion Kerkering. Breakout prospect predictions are always fun because they can be so wildly off because there is often no prediction prospects, though there is a lot of hype around Moises Chace and Gabriel Rincones Jr.. The hype of Andrew Painter is once again regaining steam. He is notably on an innings cap (whatever that may be), but how many games do we really think we’ll get out of the right-handed phenom?
Thoughts? Complaints? Praise? Let us know what you think of our predictions and add your own in the comments so you can check back in when we (hopefully) analyze the results.
