Sometimes, you have to give a guy credit. Jordan Romano looked much better in his relief outing yesterday, seeing his velocity bump up yet again. He’s still got to prove that he can do it multiple times in a row before any kind of trust is earned, but hey – for a guy who had about as bad a debut a guy could have with a new team, it’s a good sign for the team’s bullpen.

Phillies news:
- Alec Bohm might be hearing a bit from the baseball gods amidst a pretty horrible slump at the plate.
- Andrew Painter was sitting 98 in Clearwater. The team has a plan for his arrival later this year and is sticking to it ($).
MLB news:
- Looks like Luis Severino was willing to take less money from anyone else to stay in New York, but they weren’t interested.
- Maybe Marcus Stroman was just hurt after all; maybe he doesn’t actually stink and isn’t a starting pitcher anymore.
- Justin Steele needs a second opinion on his hurt elbow, which is concerning for the Cubs and their rotation.
- Who is the top dog in baseball as far as starting pitchers is concerned?
