Maybe the bullpen won’t be that bad after all?
I’m still processing how good the team’s bullpen looked yesterday. It’s only one spring game, of course, but the trio of Alvarado, Romano and Kerkering looked really, really good during the game against the Tigers yesterday.
What was a huge strength last year in the bullpen looks a bit more tenuous on paper this season. Matt Strahm is already ailing a bit and Jeff Hoffman is in Canada, so there is a bit more uncertainty to begin the season. Outings like what we saw last year should go a bit further in quelling that uncertainty, but it needs to carry over all of the season.
On to the links.
Phillies news:
- The bullpen picture for the season is starting to come into focus a bit more now that cuts have happened.
- Moises Chace is moving up the prospect rankings quickly. He has a chance to be something.
MLB news:
- Jesus Sanchez is going to miss at least four weeks for the Marlins with an oblique strain, a tough break for him.
- Speaking of tough breaks, the Rangers’ Jon Gray suffered one in his wrist.
- Imagine having the Platinum Glove winner at a position and thinking, “You know what? Let’s move him off that position!”
