Nobody f*cks with the Jesus
As you can imagine, a lot of the news today focuses on Jesus Luzardo and his surprise acquisition by the Phillies. I can’t think of one person who saw this one coming. Not one of the beats, not the national reporters, no one.
And that’s how this front office has operated of late. The trades and signings they make usually go unreported until just before they are announced. It’s frustrating from our perspective, but makes sense on a team secrecy level.
On to the links.
Phillies news:
- The Phillies are going to lean hard into the run prevention portion of the game with the Luzardo trade ($).
- While the deal does look great on the surface for the Phillies, the fact that they didn’t have to give up Painter, Miller or Crawford should cause pause about Luzardo’s health.
MLB news:
- It was a weekend of moves as teams are looking to get stuff done before Christmas. Paul Goldschmidt is headed to the Bronx.
- The Guardians sent out Josh Naylor to the Diamondbacks and brought back Carlos Santana to man first base ($).
- Nathaniel Lowe is now headed to the nation’s capital in a deal where the Rangers received….a reliever?
