Listen, we don’t need to get worked up about Zack Wheeler not winning the Cy Young award. He was a worthy candidate, but just happened to be pitching the same league and season as a pitcher that went nuclear. That’s tough to beat, even with the large lead in actual innings pitched.
But what about that clown that put Wheeler fourth, voting Paul Skenes AND Hunter Greene ahead of him! Skenes, alright. Defensible, if silly and misguided. Greene? Ahead of Wheeler? That’s just ludicrous and outright wrong. There is no way that that writer (you can find him if you want) can honestly believe that Greene’s 2024 season was better than Wheeler. It shows that most writers now barely watch any games outside of what was at the stadium they cover most often.
