Moving on from the Hoff
So now, it’s starting to look like we should actually feel a little bad for Jeff Hoffman. Though he ended up signing for significant money in Toronto, we already saw that the Orioles backed away from a deal with him that would have netted him more money. Now, there’s another report that the Braves also had interest in signing him, not only as a reliever, but as a starter.
And he would have made nearly $50 million!
That kind of stinks that a guy lost a chance at starting again after being drafted at that spot, but whatever is going on with his shoulder, it has scared enough teams away from finalizing a deal. Makes you wonder what the Phillies knew about him not only during the free agent process, but also towards the end of the season.
On to the links.
Phillies news:
- Not really sure what one means when they say “sleeping”, but hey maybe we’re all sleeping on the offseason.
MLB news:
- Lots of Roki Sasaki news yesterday and today. His signing is going to wreak havoc on the international market ($).
- He has started telling teams that are no longer in the running for his services that they can move on.
- The Mariners gave Donovan Solano real, actual money to come play baseball for them in Seattle.
