The Phillies are powerful
Well, well, well. Seems MLB has some new power rankings and look at who is sitting at second overall?
Haters.
Any power ranking that doesn’t have the Dodgers as the best team in baseball right now should be considered null and void. Thankfully, this one does not, but putting the Phillies second overall seems like a choice. What also stands out is that the gap between the Dodgers and Phillies (the #1 and 2 teams) is much larger than the gap that is between the Phillies and the Brewers (the #2 and 10 teams). However, the next eight teams after the Phillies all have arguably larger questions to answer than the Phillies do, which probably led to the selection.
Not that the Phillies don’t have question marks surrounding their own roster. There are very real questions that they have entering the 2025 season. It just feels like the question marks the Phillies have are much less pressing than some of the other ones facing contenders around the game. Pick one of those teams on the list, you’ll be able to find something that could derail their season. For now, it’s nice that the Phillies are recognized as an elite team in the game.
