Nothing too crazy here
It’s starting to get to that point in spring training where the regulars and those close to the major leagues need to start getting more and more plate appearances and innings pitched. That means those players that are a little further away from the majors are going to get sent to minor league camp. Today, some of those cuts happened.
Prior to today’s game, the Phillies made the following roster moves:
INF Aidan Miller & Carson Taylor, C Caleb Ricketts, OF Justin Crawford and LHP Tristan Garnett were reassigned to minor league camp.

Nothing too surprising, particularly when it comes to a catcher and reliever. Innings need to be covered while the starters get lengthened out and catchers are needed to catch all of the arms in camp. The two biggest names that are here, of course, are Aidan Miller and Justin Crawford. Two of the team’s top prospects in their minor league system, them getting some exposure to big league camp was nothing but beneficial.
There were some nice things they did in camp and during games, but it was somewhat clear that they still need a bit more seasoning in the minors before they’re fully done. Seeing major leagues breaking stuff and velocity showed them what awaits once they come to Philadelphia for good.
They’re close though. And the Phillies should be excited about their futures.
