That would be an issue with their depth
Watching the game Thursday, you may have noticed that Brandon Marsh didn’t get a start against a right handed pitcher. Odd, since he’s due to be getting most of those starts. It was at the beginning of the game when we learned why.
Brandon Marsh is not in today’s lineup after tweaking his right knee on that ball that took a weird hop in CF. He is seeing the doctor. Nothing beyond that yet.

It was on a play last night that looked weird on TV both in the action, then in the reaction Marsh had to it.
Then, during the game on Thursday, Nick Castellanos exited the game in the seventh inning. Again, odd since he doesn’t really leave the field ever.
Nick Castellanos is out of this game. Edmundo Sosa is in left field. Max Kepler moves to right. Awaiting word.

The Phillies are particularly blessed with a lot of outfield depth at the moment. Sure, they have Edmundo Sosa and Kyle Schwarber technically able to play the position, but it’s something the team would want to lean into too heavily. Down on the farm, the situation is still a bit light. Weston Wilson would likely be the first called up if an injury were to force them to make a move, but after him, the pickens’ are slim.
Fortunately for the team, it looks like that will not be an issue.
Rob Thomson said Nick Castellanos should be good to go tomorrow. Brandon Marsh is day to day, but he doesn’t anticipate him needing an IL stint.

Castellanos has been the team’s second best hitter to date, so not having to see him go on the injured list is a blessing. The team really couldn’t afford to not have him in the lineup. With Marsh, it’s just a good thing his injury isn’t as serious as maybe it could have been. While Marsh has struggled this season, were he to be lost for an extended period, the depth of the team would be put to a serious test.
Good thing they don’t have to do that.
