With today’s game bringing the series to a close, we can look briefly back at both games between the Dodgers and Phillies and honestly see two of the best teams in the game. It’s early, of course, early enough in the season that really anything can still happen. The injury history that has occurred in Los Angeles suggests that they will likely see someone important go down soon, though they have the depth to make sure that part of the roster is covered. The Phillies have proven that they can stay relatively healthy throughout a season, so we have to assume that will continue.
Still, both games have been dramatic thus far and entertaining to people that like watching good baseball. Both teams have shown their strengths are what we thought they were and deployed them as such. It’s been a good series.
Which brings us to today’s question: do you see this weekend as a preview of what the NLCS will be?
It’s a hard question to answer two weeks into the season. Teams are (mostly) healthy, or close to it, so we can’t factor in something that might break one team’s back late on in the season. However, there are already two teams – Braves and Brewers – are in trouble right now. Contenders at the beginning of the season, these two teams now look like they’ll be in a dogfight just to make the postseason at all.
So, is a series between the Phillies and Dodgers for National League supremacy what is around the corner? Let us know what you think.
