The other day, we asked the question of who would probably benefit the most from using one of these newfangled contraptions, the “torpedo” bat. Meant to shift more wood to place hitters make contact the most on the bat, they’ve become all the rage around the game, even if some hitters would rather move on from the question.

Well, those results are in. Who did you think would be the one hitter on the team that would probably be the best candidate to use it?

Interesting choice here. Stott hasn’t exactly been one known for hitting the ball hard during his tenure in Philadelphia, so maybe you were thinking that this would help with that?
Actually, Stott has already been talking about it of late. In an interview, Stott admits to using the bat once he ordered some from Victus.
I asked Bryson Stott about the torpedo bats and if they are something the Phillies have discussed using in-game.
He said he has already texted his guy at Victus about it: pic.twitter.com/uxK71wBmwY

Then we got some video of Stott using it in batting practice.
Some of the Phillies including Bryson Scott and Kody Clemens are trying out the torpedo bat.

In the end, Stott is probably right: it’s just a bat and will likely not matter. It’s a story right now because it’s new and weird looking and the season just started. Circle back around August when there is a bit more data on it and we’ll see if it truly does make any difference.
