After a disappointing end of the season last year the orange and black look to bounce back and make a legit run for a playoff spot this season. Under the second year of the Briere Jones regime the Flyers will have Russian phenom Matvei Michkov and a new look goalie combo of Errson Fedotov to try and prove the doubters wrong.
The Flyers will start the season on the road with four straight in the Pacific Northwest. Starting with the Vancouver Canucks on October 11, followed by the Flames, Oilers, and Kraken. The Flyers first home game will be Saturday October 19th against the Canucks for the second and final time of the season. Their first game against an Eastern Conference team is three days later on the 22nd against the Capitals who they play again the next night this time in Washington. The Flyers do not play the Capitals again until February 6, and they meet up for the last time March 20th. Philadelphia will play the defending cup champion Florida Panthers three times, the first being November 9th in Sunrise with the following two both being in Philly on December 5 and January 13th.
The annual Black Friday game will take place against the Rangers this year. This is the Blueshirts only visit to Philadelphia as they will play twice in Manhattan on January 23rd and April 9th. The Flyers will have two looks at the rebranded Utah Hockey Club on December 5th in Philadelphia and February 4th in Salt Lake City.
The Flyers will have a five game home stand from November 16th to 25th with matchups against Buffalo, Colorado, Carolina, Chicago, and Vegas. As well as a seven game home stand from March 4th to 15th playing against Calgary, Winnipeg, Seattle, New Jersey, Ottawa, Tampa, and Carolina.
The typical New Years road-trip will consist of six games stretching from December 23rd to January 5th. They start in Pittsburgh for their first matchup against the Penguins followed by the Ducks for the kick off of the Michkov Gauthier rivalry. The road trip will then go to Los Angeles, San Jose, Vegas, and Toronto. The Flyers will face the Penguins on March 8th, 25th and 27th as well. The season wraps up on Thursday April 17th in Buffalo.
The most anticipated game of the second will be Saturday January 11th 7pm at the Wells Fargo Center as Cutter Gauthier will play in Philadelphia for the first time as a member of the Anaheim Ducks. This game will be as big and as hostile as a home Cowboys game or Phillies playoff game. As public enemy number one Cutter Gauthier makes his Philadelphia debut.
