On paper, the Birds offense looks like it can be the best in the league. There are superstars all over the field, and they will be looking to get back to their 2022 self’s. AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith make up the best receiving duo in the NFL, but who is going to be the next guy to step up?
The Eagles spent this offseason bringing in veteran receivers to take a look at for the WR3 spot. The comes after Quez Watkins left in free agency, leaving a hole that he was filling for the past few seasons. Fans were split on whether they liked or hated Watkins, but whoever the Eagles give that role will be a similar type of player. The Eagles have brought in John Ross, Parris Campbell, and they wanted to test out DeVante Parker before he decided to retire. The last time John Ross played was in 2021, where he played 10 games and had 20 catches and 224 yards. Parris Campbell played in 12 games last season and had 20 catches and 104 yards. These numbers aren’t inspiring for either player, but there’s a chance they could play better in this Eagles offense.
There is growing sentiment that whoever the WR3 is, he isn’t on the team yet. There is a possibility that the Eagles sign another free agent or make a trade for a wide receiver. Howie is always active and aggressive, and I’m sure he has been keeping an eye on some players that might be available. One intriguing option could be Noah Brown who plays for the Texans. Since they added Stefon Diggs, and have Tank Dell and Nico Collins, Noah Brown could be available via trade. There are plenty of similar options that the Eagles can take a look at too.
The offense in 2024 is going to be high-level once again. Once the Eagles can get their third wide receiver, and everyone can start creating chemistry with the new offense, things are going to get fun.
