Tuesday night’s premiere episode of “Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants” gave a glowing example of differences in strategy. The biggest reason why Howie Roseman is head and shoulders better than a lot of NFL GMs was on full display during the opening episode of what should be an insightful series.
The NFL world and social media are reacting to a February meeting of Giants team brass and an urgent discussion on the future of running back Saquon Barkley.
Giants senior vice president of football operations and strategy Kevin Abrams, who can be seen on camera, raised doubt about any team (Eagles) being willing to pay Barkley the tag cost of $12 million (minus any money paid by the Giants to facilitate a deal) and give up a draft pick in a trade.
Schoen then questioned if it was worth having a 27-year-old running back earn $12 million per season with so many pressing needs at other positions.
Social media reacts to everything, and the Giants downplaying Barkley’s ability to land a deal was the morning’s talk.
