No matter what has happened in the Philadelphia Eagles season, the team has been rolling with it. Despite a slow start to the season, rough offensive performances, and last week’s drama, the Eagles keep winning. They do not just win either, they win somewhat comfortably, inspiring more and more confidence every week.
There is No Doubt Left with Eagles Season Expectations
While the Eagles were always seen as supremely talented, the end of last season was understandably stuck in everyone’s mind. There was hesitation when considering the Eagles true Super Bowl contenders. However, there’s no doubt about it, not only are the Eagles Super Bowl contenders, but it is championship or bust for this team.
The Remaining Games
The Eagles are trailing the Detroit Lions for the number-one seed in the NFC. The Eagles do not control their destiny and will need to win out and have the Lions lose another game. The remaining opponents for the Eagles season include the Washington Commanders, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Giants.
If the Eagles can beat the Commanders again, there is a great chance the team can extend its winning streak through the end of the regular season, making it by far the hottest team in the NFL. However, the Eagles performances during this 10-game win streak should strike fear across the league.
They have proven that they can win games in a variety of ways depending on the matchup in front of them. Against a high-powered offense in the Los Angeles Rams, they lean on Barkley and the run game to control the clock. When a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers can take away the running attack, the Eagles have the talent to move the ball through the air confidently, not just through big plays. Even if the offense struggles through most of the game, like against the Baltimore Ravens, the Eagles defense can keep them in the game against any offense.
The Path to the Championship
As it stands, the Eagles are the most well-rounded team in the NFC and likely the entire league. With the Lions suffering major injuries to their defense, it should leave a clear path to not only potentially get the one seed but also get to the championship game. The Packers and the Vikings are formidable, but there is still a sizeable difference in talent between them and the Eagles.
However, the one seed and the bye in the NFC will be extremely valuable this year, with the quality of teams in the NFC. Add in the fact that the Eagles had an early bye week this year, it would be ideal for them to get a one-week break going into the last three weeks of the season. Despite that, the Eagles are still the clear favorite to win the NFC.
Nothing is ever given in the NFL, and the Eagles must avoid complacency as usual for NFL teams. However, this is their best opportunity to win a title since they did so in 2017. Super Bowl windows for teams can close fast, so if the Eagles miss their chance this year, it might not come again for some time.
