In December of 1926 — just two days after the Frankford Yellow Jackets tied the Pottsville Maroons 0–0 during a frigid day at Frankford Stadium — the team was informed that the NFL had crowned them NFL Champions after the Bears and Green Bay Packers tied in the last game of the regular season in Chicago. It was an anti-climatic ending for a team that was one of the most dominant franchises in the 1920s.

The 2024–2025 Philadelphia Eagles bulldozed through the NFL postseason with gritty wins of Green Bay and St. Louis, and a complete annhiliation of Washington and Kansas City. Each week, each game, getting stronger and stronger and more unstoppable. By halftime of Super Bowl LIX — with a performance so decisive — that the Eagles were all but crowned through two quarters of action.
On Friday — with love filled the City of Philadelphia not only in it’s iconic Park and for couples all over the Delaware Valley — on Broad Street an even more passionate love was on full display. One hundred years after the NFL arrived in Philadelphia — the greatest professional football team to play in the City ever joined over 1 million fans along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia for a celebration like no other. Even the magical ride of 2018 couldn’t even compare to the 2025 celebration.
A little after Noon when a Mack truck headlined by Swoop lumbered down Broad Street leading a caravan of midnight green buses treating fans along the five-mile stretch to glimpses of the Lombardi Trophy as and the World Champion Philadelphia Eagles players pumped up the crowd along the parade route and culminated with player speeches on the steps of the Art Museum.
It would be April before the 1926 Frankford Yellow Jackets would celebrate their title. In 1960 — the Eagles would celebrate that night at a seafood restaurant on the river. In 1948 — the team won in Philadelphia despite a blizzard. In 1949 — the Eagles would win the first NFL Championship on the West Coast.
In a few weeks — the Eagles will have a team dinner and will be presented World Championship rings to the entire team roster. It won’t be anywhere near as wild as the ride that these Eagles have just been on.
