2024 AGL: 49ers Get Smacked Down by Injuries – FTN Fantasy
Other teams with very few injuries included the Super Bowl champion Eagles as well as Chicago and Atlanta. Six of the eight best teams in AGL made the playoffs: Ravens, Eagles, Commanders, Broncos, Packers, and Bills. [BLG Note: The Eagles were the NFL’s second-healthiest team by Adjusted Games Lost. Kudos to the medical staff. The Birds might also be due for some injury luck regression in 2025.]

NFL Mock Draft Monday: The (five) stars align – BGN
It’s a lock the Eagles will draft a DT. Quite possibly in the 1st. Maybe even Walter Nolen, who is a popular pick for them this week. A former top recruit (#2 in his class behind Travis Hunter), Nolen disappointed at Texas A&M before moving to Ole Miss for the 2024 season. At Oxford he had a good season, but not a strong one. I am not impressed by Nolen, but then this draft is full of good but unimpressive players. I wouldn’t be excited by a Walter Nolen pick, but he fits the high athletic DL profile that the Eagles have drafted, they’re just usually from Georgia. Ole Miss did beat Georgia this year, so close enough.
Mocking the Mocks – Iggles Blitz
It does feel like a good bet that the Eagles will take an OL or DL in the first round. That’s what they tend to do and there are needs on both sides of the ball. Adding a DB would make some sense. The Eagles lost a starting CB and safety in the past few weeks. They have potential replacements already in place, but could prefer to add top talents at one of the positions. Two of these mock drafts had the Eagles trading up. I can see Howie doing that if the right player is available and the price is right. He believes in going to get his guy. Pick 32 is an interesting pick to have. There is value in having that because teams sometimes want to move into the first round to get a player they are targeting. The Eagles might be able to add a pick for only moving back a few spots. The Eagles don’t need extra picks, but it never hurts. Picks are resources that give you options. Maybe you move back in the first round and then move up in the second. It is good to have options on draft weekend and no one knows that better than Howie.
What’s left for the Eagles to do in free agency? – PhillyVoice
A few weeks ago, the Eagles had good depth at safety, but after the surprise trade of C.J. Gardner-Johnson, they don’t. Are they Eagles good to go at safety? Sydney Brown hasn’t been a starter yet in his career, and the depth is suspect. What the Eagles could use is a depth piece who can double as a safety and slot corner after losing Avonte Maddox in free agency.
NFL Power Rankings 2025: Which teams improved in free agency? – ESPN
2. Philadelphia Eagles. Under-the-radar move: Changing the quarterback depth chart. The Eagles traded Kenny Pickett to the Browns for a 2025 fifth-round pick and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson. This likely means 2023 sixth-round pick Tanner McKee will ascend to the No. 2 spot behind Jalen Hurts. McKee has earned the promotion by impressing in practice and maximizing his limited opportunities. He went 30-of-45 (67%) for 323 yards with four touchdowns to no interceptions in two games last season. Philadelphia showed some interest in Thompson-Robinson before the 2023 draft and will now have the chance to help grow his game behind the scenes. [BLG Note: The Eagles are somehow ranked second behind the Chiefs in first place.]
Reflective Lane Johnson would be honored to mentor his successor – NBCSP
In recent years, there have been plenty of folks wondering if it’s time for the Eagles to draft Johnson’s eventual replacement. They did that a couple years early at the center position with Cam Jurgens, which allowed him to learn directly from Jason Kelce. Johnson would welcome a similar opportunity to mentor his eventual replacement. “I think that would be an exceptional experience,” Johnson said. “I credit Jason Peters for my development, keeping me aware of what the culture was like in the city, what I really need to focus on when I’m playing tackle. He was my biggest mentor. “I think for me, where I’m at in my career, I love talking to the younger guys and helping these guys out. You can see their game develop. And being able to pass that stuff down the way that it was passed down to me is a cool thing. “It’s not like that at every place. I think the culture has been this way here for a long time. Players have always looked out for the best interest of the team and the organization and so, yeah, I’d be honored to be a part of that process. Whoever we draft and whoever we bring in, I’ll be here to help.”
Aaron Rodgers Longs for Nostalgia In His Next Team – SI
Shout out to Brandon Graham. He’s a great guy who had a great career. I’m glad he’s celebrated as he should be in Philly, where he spent all 15 of his NFL years. While we’re there, a year out from the retirements of Fletcher Cox and Jason Kelce, it’s still bananas to look back and see how those two, Graham and Lane Johnson, were together for 11 years. I said it on social media last week—I can’t imagine there’s much precedent for four linemen being together for that long, and it’s a good window into what makes Philly great.
Welcome to Philadelphia: Get to know Avery Williams – PE.com
LW: What has your journey been like to get to this point in the NFL? AW: “Out of high school, I only had two opportunities for college. I ended up walking on at Boise State, and had an amazing time there, and had a great career. And one thing led to the next into getting drafted by the Falcons. Played my whole rookie contract, and it was time to move on. All love to those guys, but I’m excited. I’m excited to be here and with the Eagles. And the thing I’m most excited about is just the high character of people that I’ve met in this building already. I love being surrounded by great culture and great people.”
President Trump invites Kansas City Chiefs to White House to celebrate 2020 Super Bowl – USA Today
“I look forward to having the Eagles (visit). And one other thing, we’re going to have the Kansas City Chiefs after that, because they missed their turn because of COVID,” Trump told Outkick. The Chiefs did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation of an official invite.
This one offseason mistake could really come back to bite the Cowboys – Blogging The Boys
The Cowboys’ plan at backup QB is unclear. There’s not much left to choose from in free agency as 16 backups have already been signed. The best free agent backup QB left on the market is the 40-year-old Joe Flacco. That means the team’s best chance to get a viable backup is April’s draft, however, that could be a little tricky as well. The good news is the Cowboys have some extra Day 3 picks thanks to compensatory picks, but these picks are so late in the draft that the top 10 college prospects should be gone by then. That means the Cowboys are grasping at straws to find a quality quarterback late in the draft. It’s scary when you think about it. Nothing feels worse than when Prescott goes down and if the team doesn’t have someone giving them a fighting chance, that’s a bad spot to be in. We’ll pass judgment come summertime when it’s clearer what they’re doing, but right now they aren’t sitting in a good place when it comes to having a good backup plan at quarterback.
‘Things I think’ after the Giants’ signing of QB Jameis Winston – Big Blue View
The 31-year-old Winston wasn’t the best quarterback on the market. Given where the Giants are, though, signing him always made sense. He is a former No. 1 pick who has had well-chronicled ups and downs during what has become a journeyman career. He profiles not only as a quarterback Brian Daboll will appreciate for his (sometimes questionable) willingness to push the ball down the field, but also as a player who should be an excellent mentor for a young quarterback. Former teammates love Winston. I have long supported the idea of pairing Winston with a rookie quarterback.
What goes into photographing the most magical moments in sports? – SB Nation
Well, this is that. We got in touch with Jamie Squire, Chief Sports Photographer for Getty Images, who’s been shooting sports events and more for several decades, and who is definitely responsible for some of your favorite sports images. It was fucking awesome. We loved asking him questions, we loved hearing his stories, and we loved grilling him on his memories of iconic (and just bizarre) events. This conversation was originally supposed to be like 20 minutes and we just ended up going on forever (before the wizard that is Ryan Simmons cut it down to a proper size.
