Once the Eagles disastrous season ended in Tampa Bay. It was on to the off-season, and once you’re not vying for a Lombardi in February. The only thing to look forward to is improving the team in free agency, and then the draft.
Entering the off-season, it was clear the Eagles needed to shake things up in the secondary. Between countless injuries and underperforming players. There’s no chance that changes wouldn’t be made.
With another list of players set to leave, the needs became clear in the off-season:
- Backup Quarterback
- Running Backs
- Wide Receivers
- Offensive Line Depth
- Linebackers
- Safety
- Cornerbacks
Just a week after the Super Bowl, Julian Okwara, Darian Kinnard and Tyrion Davis-Price were signed to the team. Already addressing some gaps in the roster.
We weren’t even TWO days into free agency and Howie Roseman had already addressed multiple items off this list. Saquon Barkley, Matt Hennessy and Devin White and more were all Eagles before the weekend came around.
With a RB, WR, OL, LB and S already signed by mid March. Things were looking good for this Eagles off-season. Most of the needs were filled and the draft was still weeks away.
And just after the draft had settled down, the Eagles went out and added Mekhi Becton to the offensive line. Getting Eagles fans a (former) first round OT after all.
Addressing The Future
Extension
The Eagles tried to add as much cap space as possible this off-season.
In the last few months, the Eagles extended the following players who were still under contract for 2024 (and beyond):
- Landon Dickerson – 4 Years, $84M
- Jake Elliott – 4 Years, $24M
- Reed Blankenship – 1 Year, $3.5M
- Jordan Mailata – 3 Years, $66M
- DeVonta Smith – 3 Years, $75M
- AJ Brown – 3 Years, $96M
With all these players signed before (and during) the draft. The plan became clearer for what the Eagles would do with the 8 Picks they had last week.
The Draft
#Eagles 2024 Draft:

The Eagles made huge investments in the secondary. Grabbing two top cornerbacks projected to go well above the Eagles picks. With the additions of Mitchell and DeJean, there’s now a plan for the secondary after James Bradberry and Darius Slay. Similar to what the Eagles have done when drafting Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis, playing behind Javon Hargrave and Fletcher Cox.
Not only did they acquire 9 players in the 2024 Draft. The Eagles were also able to trade back and acquired a 3rd, 4th and 5th round pick in the 2025 draft.
Even if the Eagles didn’t make another move between now and training camp. They’ve successfully checked off the majority of their off-season needs.
- Quarterback

We’re still months away from any real roster cuts and finalized depth. But who do you have making your 53 Man roster after an off-season like this?
