We are already in week five, and the season has not started how we all thought it would.
The Eagles just got blown out by the Buccaneers, and they looked miserable out there. They looked like the same team that collapsed last year, and they also looked banged up.
Teams generally hate early bye weeks, but it looks like it came at the perfect time this year.
The Eagles’ most important players have been injured to start the season. Once we get through the bye week, everyone should be healthy, and the team should be more motivated than ever to turn this season around. This early bye week also gives them time to fix their issues, like tackling and bland plays. If the bye came later in the season, they wouldn’t have had the time to work on these issues, and they would’ve persisted deep into the season.
The coaches have time to reflect on their poor management so far, and hopefully, this bye will give them the chance to self-reflect and do better. They need to look at the team’s total performance, including offense, defense, and special teams, and understand that it is not just the players’ fault. If anything, it is mostly the coach’s fault, and this bye week gives them a chance to take a breather and settle down.
It would be hard for the Eagles to look any worse through the first four weeks. When they go out there, it is hard not to see last year’s team.
It looks like they have some deep issues that need to be fixed, and this bye week has come at the perfect time for the team to come together and fix whatever issues they have.
