Eagles roster outlook: Offensive guard
The Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl season is over and the 2025 NFL offseason is officially here. We’re continuing our Eagles roster outlook series by examining the offensive guard position. PREVIOUSLY: Quarterback | Running back | Tight end | Wide receiver | Offensive tackle.
THE PLAYERS
LANDON DICKERSON
STATS: 996 snaps, 16 starts, 8th out of 79 guards graded by PFF, 5 sacks allowed, 5 hits allowed, 22 hurries allowed, 10 penalties
PLAYOFF STATS: 236 snaps, 4 starts, 4th out of 22 guards graded by PFF, 0 sacks allowed, 1 hit allowed, 4 hurries allowed, 2 penalties
REVIEW: The Eagles made Dickerson the highest-paid guard in the NFL at the time of him signing his contract extension last March. Despite battling through nagging injuries that seemingly began back in training camp, Dickerson turned in his third straight Pro Bowl season. In the playoffs, Dickerson had to start the NFC Championship Game at center due to Cam Jurgens dealing with an injured back. Dickerson managed to play the entire first half of that game and then the entirety of Super Bowl LIX despite suffering a knee injury that will require offseason surgery. In addition to being a top-notch talent, Dickerson seemed to take on more of a vocal leadership role in 2024.
OUTLOOK: Dickerson, 26, is signed through the 2028 season. With three Pro Bowls already under his belt, I don’t think it’s crazy to suggest he could eventually overtake Chuck Bednarik’s spot for the most Pro Bowls made in Eagles history (eight). Depending on how long he plays and if he can stay healthy, of course. Even if he doesn’t get to that mark, Dickerson still figures to be one of the NFL’s best guards for years to come.
MY TAKE: Stay.
MEKHI BECTON
STATS: 903 snaps, 15 starts, 20th out of 79 guards graded by PFF, 5 sacks allowed, 3 hits allowed, 26 hurries allowed, 5 penalties
PLAYOFF STATS: 255 snaps, 4 starts, 13th out of 22 guards graded by PFF, 2 sacks allowed, 1 hit allowed, 6 hurries allowed, 1 penalty
REVIEW: When the Eagles signed Becton shortly after the 2024 NFL Draft, there was thought that he would be the swing tackle behind Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson. But then Becton took first-team reps at right guard in training camp after Tyler Steen got hurt and never looked back. Though there were some issues in pass protection, Becton was a force as a run blocker due to his massive frame. After spending multiple miserable years with the New York Jets, Becton finally seemed to find happiness in Philly. He was visibly very emotional after the Eagles officially clinched the playoffs (his first career postseason berth) and then again once they won the Super Bowl.

OUTLOOK: Becton will be a free agent in March. It’ll be really interesting to see whether he’s back or not. Ideally, the Eagles would like to keep their dominant offensive line fully intact. But it’s not like they have unlimited cap space; they have to go cheaper somewhere. And with Cam Jurgens due for an extension and the Eagles already paying top of the market money to Mailata, Johnson, and Dickerson, can they really afford Becton’s price tag as well? But maybe Jeff Stoutland will use his clout to really push for retaining Becton. And maybe this is a rare case when a player actually takes a team-friendly, below-market deal to stay somewhere he wants to be as opposed to chasing top dollar on the open market. Again, Becton really seemed to like playing in Philly. And maybe the Eagles will re-sign him with the idea that he could eventually shift back to tackle if/when Johnson retires down the road? For what it’s worth, NFL insider Adam Schefter recently said “there’s a real chance that [Becton] winds up staying” with the Eagles.
I miss the guys

MY TAKE: Stay.
TYLER STEEN
STATS: 316 snaps, 2 starts, 77th out of 79 guards graded by PFF, 0 sacks allowed, 0 hits allowed, 12 hurries allowed, 6 penalties
PLAYOFF STATS: 84 snaps, 1 start, 17th out of 22 guards graded by PFF, 0 sacks allowed, 0 hits allowed, 3 hurries allowed, 1 penalty
REVIEW: Steen entered training camp as the first-team right guard but got hurt and lost his starting job to Becton. The 2023 third-round pick still saw snaps whenever Becton or Dickerson got banged up. Steen started in the NFC Championship Game when Dickerson shifted over to center. Steen clearly didn’t grade out well by Pro Football Focus standards and he committed a lot of penalties in limited playing time. But it’s hardly like he a major deterrent to offensive success; the Eagles scored 37 points and 55 points in two of his three starts (the third coming in Week 18 against the Giants when Philly rested starters).
OUTLOOK: If the Eagles can’t afford to retain Becton, Steen is the top contender to take over at right guard. If Becton returns, Steen figures to be the top guard backup again in 2025.
MY TAKE: Stay.
JACK DRISCOLL
STATS: 110 snaps, 1 start, 26th out of 135 guards graded by PFF, 1 sack allowed, 1 hit allowed, 1 hurry allowed, 0 penalties
REVIEW: The Eagles signed Driscoll to their practice squad prior to Week 1 after he got cut by the Miami Dolphins. They temporarily elevated him multiple times before eventually signing him to the roster. Driscoll really only saw snaps in garbage time and then when the Eagles rested starters in Week 18.
OUTLOOK: Driscoll left the Eagles in free agency last offseason to sign with the Dolphins. Does he really want to leave again? His best opportunity to stick on a roster could be in Philly. Even more so if the Eagles don’t retain Becton.
MY TAKE: Stay.
TREVOR KEEGAN
STATS: 35 snaps, 0 starts, 41st out of 135 guards graded by PFF, 1 sack allowed, 0 hits allowed, 0 hurries allowed, 0 penalties
REVIEW: Keegan was basically a glorified practice squad member in 2024. The rookie guard was a healthy scratch for every game except the regular season finale.
OUTLOOK: The Eagles might want Keegan to bulk up. He’s currently listed at 306 pounds, which is just ahead of center Cam Jurgens at 303. For reference, Becton is listed at 363 and Dickerson is 332. A full offseason in an NFL weight training program could benefit Keegan, who will be trying to push for a role as one of the eight active offensive linemen in 2025.
MY TAKE: Stay.
NFL FREE AGENCY OR TRADES
The Eagles have decisions to make on Becton and Driscoll. Any external additions at guard will likely be for the veteran minimum.
That said, if Becton isn’t back, it could be worth keeping an eye on Isaac Seumalo’s status. There’s been some speculation that the former Eagles starter could be a cap casualty since the Pittsburgh Steelers can clear $7.9 million by cutting him.
NFL DRAFT APPROACH
The Eagles could conceivably take an offensive lineman early in the 2025 NFL Draft and have them start at right guard before they eventually take over for Lane Johnson at right tackle. Or just keep them at RG if Lane continues to play for a long time. Whether that’s the plan or not, they’ll likely draft an offensive lineman or two. Never a bad idea to stock the Jeff Stoutland University pipeline.
