The Eagles won their first game of the season down in Brazil, beating the Packers 34-29. There were a lot of players who looked good out there. Saquon Barkley had an amazing debut as an Eagle, scoring three touchdowns. Another player who had a really good Eagles debut was Quinyon Mitchell, and it was exciting to watch.
Everyone was curious about how Mitchell was going to look in his first NFL game. Coming from a smaller school and transitioning to the NFL can be a tough task. Mitchell looked right at home though, and in his first game he really looked like he can be an Eagle for the foreseeable future. In his first game, Mitchell allowed four catches for nine yards, allowed a 66.9 passer rating, and had three pass breakups.
It was extremely exciting to watch Quinyon Mitchell flourish on the field. It feels like the Eagles really found themselves someone who can be a leader on the defense in the years to come. It was fun to see him talking trash and having some swagger on the field too. It makes it even more exciting that he brings that kind of energy to the defense.
There were other players who really impressed too. AJ Brown, Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith and Zach Baun all looked amazing out there. I was nervous leading up to the game. The feeling of last years collapse combined with new coordinators, and having to travel, didn’t feel great before the game. After the game though, it feels like the Eagles are back to form and can be legit contenders once again.
The game wasn’t perfect and there is surly stuff the Eagles have to clean up. Although it wasn’t perfect, a lot of Birds played extremely well, and one of the most impressive performances was Quinyon Mitchell in his rookie debut.
