After a boring 4th Quarter of a turnover filled game in Dallas. the Eagles look to play their 3rd NFC East rival in just 5 weeks. Unlike the Steelers, who sit at 7-2 and play their first of 6 Divisional games this weekend.
Anything can happen in a divisional game. Just look at the Ravens losing to the Browns in Jameis Winston’s first start of the season. And after a 2-0 sweep of the Commanders last year, Those games did not need to be as close as the box score might seem.
Uselessly Into Overtime
The Eagles ended up taking the Commanders into overtime for their 2nd matchup last season. And if it wasn’t the love for the deep pass. It was completely avoidable. If only the Eagles weren’t worried about style points.
It’s a good thing the Eagles were able to get some rest in the 4th Quarter against Dallas. Playing on a short week is no benefit, but having the extra time off this week will be beneficial when the Eagles travel across the country to play the Rams on SNF on the 24th.
Finally A Real Quarterback
Most of Washington’s success is due to finally finding their franchise QB. Sitting at 7-3, after years of cycling through journeymen, injuries, backups and flat out bad quarterbacks. There might be some consistency under center in Washington for the first time in 7+ years. Back to the NFC East Kirk Cousins days.
With 2,147 yards and 9 TDs, Jayden Daniels is currently leading the OROY race (not that the rest of the drafted competition stood a chance). And after several weeks of playing some lesser offenses, including a backup QB. The Eagles will be up against one of the top teams currently in the NFC, let alone a team that held onto 1st in the division for most of the season.
Getting Healthy At The Right Time
Earlier in the week the Eagles got an extra boost to the Offensive Line. Announcing that Jordan Mailata will be activated off IR and has no injury designation for tonight’s game.

And while Fred Johnson was a serviceable replacement in Mailata’s absence, the Eagles having all 5 OL starters for tonight could be a massive difference. We’ve seen how this team can function missing key players (against Tampa & New Orleans), but since the Eagles Bye Week they’ve managed to score an average of 29.4 points per game. And with Britain Covey making a return hopefully soon, the Eagles can look forward to taking Cooper DeJean off of his special teams returns duties.
We’re not too far from tonight’s kickoff. So sit down, get ready.
And Go Birds!
