Julio, Quez Watkins, and Zaccheaus Weren’t the Answer. Now The Eagles Will Turn to the Draft.
To succeed in the NFL Draft, you need research. Evaluation. Stats.
You need to be able to identify talent for your roster in the seventh round just as you need to in the second.
Teams that do it really well are the most successful. Teams like the Eagles.
Take Devonta Smith. At Alabama, the “Slim Reaper” set seven school receiving records, the Biletnikoff Award, the Maxwell Award, SEC Offensive Player of the Year, and the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award while accumulating almost 4,000 yards receiving.
When the Eagles drafted him with the 10th overall pick in the 2021 Draft (jumping over the Cowboys) they need what kind of a player that they were getting. This week, they reinforced it with a three-year, $75 Million extension.
With AJ Brown, Smith, Dallas Geodert, and now Saquon Barkley as another threat out of the backfield, where will the Eagles look for a slot option?
Devante Parker is a veteran in this league, but with another season on the horizon with an all-star cast of wide receivers, will the Eagles look to the draft to add depth?
How about looking no farther than Michigan wide receiver Roman Wilson?
This Hawaii native has an impressive resume. He played high school football at Saint Louis School in Honolulu, and was part of thirty-eight game winning streak combined with four State Championships.
In a four-year career at Michigan, he hauled in 107 receptions for just over 1,700 yards. The CFP National Champion was also honored as a second-team All-Big Ten Selection in 2023.
Most importantly, he can add another dimension to an already crowded wide receiver room.
