Austin Rivers made some huge waves in the sports world with his recent comments about how he could find 30 players in the NBA that could make the jump to the NFL right now — while the same couldn’t be said for football players and the NBA.
Now former Eagles All-Pro Jason Kelce is weighing in on the debate after hearing what Ryan Clark had to say on his platform “The Pivot.” And while he believes Clark makes some fair points, he appears to be siding a bit with the basketball guys.
“I love this argument and passion from Ryan, and as a football player my mind is screaming hell yea!!!” Kelce tweeted. “But, if I was an NFL GM, and it was an option, I’d sign Lebron today and within one offseason he’d be the greatest redzone threat in the NFL.”
Clark argued that NBA players simply aren’t wired with the mentality that football players have and that when you reach a certain size you’re incapable of getting low enough to be effective on an NFL field.
The ESPN analyst referenced Warriors forward Draymond Green who’s looked at as a “goon” in the NBA but couldn’t play a lick on Michigan State’s mediocre football team when he gave it a try in 2011.
Where do you stand on the football vs. basketball debate?
