Jalen Hurts said he’s in “a great place” with Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni.
Last week, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini called the relationship between Hurts and Sirianni “a work in progress.” The NFL insider cited “some disconnect” due to their contrasting personalities.
As the Eagles opened training camp Wednesday, Hurts refuted any issues with Sirianni.
“I think any time you have any frustration, any time you have any adversity that you have to overcome, it’s supposed to test you,” Hurts said, per Symone Stanley. “And I think it’s a matter of being on the same page.”
Sirianni also addressed the situation when telling reporters he didn’t “put much stock” into those rumors.
“The only thing you can judge relations on is your personal interactions with people, not any report that comes out,” Sirianni said Wednesday, via Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94WIP.com. “Jalen and I’s relationship is good.”
The Eagles lost six of their last seven games, including a first-round playoff elimination, after starting 10-1. Hurts called last season’s late collapse “a learning experience” and believes their past success is proof that they can rebound and win again.
“Everybody’s hungry. There’s a ton of opportunity in front of us this year,” Hurts said. “I’m excited to be back. Excited to go through this journey and go through this season with everyone here. I truly trust Mr. [Jeffrey] Lurie. I trust Howie [Roseman]. I trust Coach Sirianni to lead us in the right direction.”
