Chip Kelly’s three-year run with the Philadelphia Eagles had a lot of highs and lows to say the least. But one of his former players in Philadelphia made a rather significant accusation about the former NFL head coach and his relationship with the team’s black players.
On Thursday’s edition of The 25/10 Show with former Eagles LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson, the two ripped into Kelly for how he treated them and other players during his tenure with the team. But perhaps the most stunning statement was McCoy’s assertion that Kelly seemed “uncomfortable” in dealing with his black football players.
“You didn’t send me to Buffalo (in a trade) because you thought it was the best move for the team; you sent me there to die,” McCoy said.
“I never really (was) able to get the benefit of the doubt that I deserved bro, and it was all like off of Chip Kelly,” Jackson replied.
“I’ve never met a coach that was uncomfortable dealing with black players,” McCoy added.
The two ex-Eagles also recalled a moment when Kelly made then-starting quarterback Michael Vick cry. McCoy said that Vick told him he cried more from dealing with Kelly than he did when he went to prison in 2008.
Those are obviously some serious accusations directed towards Kelly, who has worked with thousands of football players during his 30-plus years of coaching.
We’ll see if Kelly chooses to respond to the allegations.
