With just 3 games left in the regular season, and the Eagles are in a 3 way tie for the 1st seed in the NFC.
Stuck at 12-2 with the Lions & Vikings.
While they might be able to clinch the NFC East (and at minimum, the 2 seed) with a win over the Commanders this weekend. The Eagles could still find themselves competing for the standings in the final two weeks of the season.
And with those final contests, comes the opportunity to reach milestones & break records.
Let’s dive in to some of the Eagles stats before their Week 16 game.
Saquon’s Last Push For 2,000
When the Eagles still had 6 games to play, Saquon needed to average 101.3 Yards per game to hit the 2,000 rushing yard mark.
Now with only 3 games to play, the number hasn’t changed much. Now requiring 104 yards per game to hit the milestone.
That is, unless the Eagles have nothing to play for in Week 18. Then there’s a chance Saquon will need to finish the year with 156 rush yards, in the next two games. Suddenly, 2,000 yards in his first year as an Eagle might seem out of reach.
Missing time during the Steelers game certainly didn’t help, but the Eagles should look to rest Saquon if necessary so they are as healthy as possible during a playoff run that they might have home field advantage throughout.
1K Duo No More
2024 was the third season Jalen Hurts had A.J. Brown & DeVonta Smith as his WR Duo.
Both receivers were able to eclipse the 1,000 yard milestone in the two years they’ve played together.
Unfortunately, this year might not be the case.
With both Brown & Smith missing 3 games throughout the season and Hurts on pace for his 2nd lowest passing yard total in a full season, it’s no surprise one receiver won’t hit the mark.
Not trying to make a slight against DeVonta Smith, the Eagles offense has had enough drama circulating around the passing game the last few weeks.
But to average 113 yards a game is a stretch when a receiver is only averaging 60.2 yards throughout the majority of the season.
A.J. Brown, on the other hand should hit the milestone with ease. Even if the Eagles hold their WR1 out after being limited all week with a knee injury. Only 54 yards away from the 1,000 mark, A.J.‘s average of 86 shouldn’t be a struggle, regardless of how many games he finishes the season with.
Defensive Line Highs
The Eagles might’ve lost Brandon Graham and Bryce Huff to injuries earlier in the year.
But that hasn’t stopped the rest of the defensive line from approaching, or clearing previous career highs.
Below is each member of the defensive lines stats that have passed or are close to reaching career highs through 15 weeks, including (last season) totals:
Jalen Carter
Tackles 39(33)
TFL 12(8)
Sacks 4.5(6)
Milton Williams
TFL 6(3)
Sacks 5(0.5)
Josh Sweat
Tackles 35(48)
TFL 9(15)
Sacks 8(11)
Nolan Smith
Tackles 34(13)
TFL 7(1)
Sacks 5.5(1)
While some of the defensive line is seeing an increased snap count compared to their previous seasons like Nolan & Milton. There’s also only 1 year of experience for the Bulldogs on DL in Nolan & Carter.
With 3 games left in the regular season, which of these players do you think is able to make new career highs?
