Week 17 game status updates.
The Philadelphia Eagles issued their third and final official injury report on Friday in advance of their Week 17 home game against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Eagles ruled three players OUT: Jalen Hurts, Will Shipley, and Britain Covey.
Hurts did not practice this week while recovering from the concussion he suffered in Week 16. The Eagles will hope he’s cleared to return in Week 18, if necessary. With Hurts out, Kenny Pickett figures to be the Eagles’ starting quarterback. Pickett was listed as limited on Friday after being full go on Thursday … but he is not listed with a game status. Tanner McKee will be QB2. We’ll see if the team decides to temporarily elevate Ian Book from the practice squad to serve as QB3.
Shipley did not practice this week while recovering from the concussion he suffered in Week 16. With Shipley out, the Eagles could look to temporarily elevate either Tyrion Davis-Price or Lew Nichols from the practice squad to play on special teams and serve as RB3 behind Saquon Barkley and Kenny Gainwell.
Covey was listed as a full participant on Wednesday and Thursday before sitting out of Friday’s practice. Covey hasn’t been able to play since getting hurt in Week 13. One must wonder if the Eagles plan to put him on injured reserve at this point.
The Eagles ruled one player DOUTBFUL: Nakobe Dean.
After suffering an abdomen injury in Week 16, Dean was listed under DNP on Wednesday before being limited on Thursday and Friday. With Dean doubtful to play, look for Oren Burks to get the start next to Zack Baun. Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is the only backup off-ball linebacker on the roster. Dean being doubtful as opposed to ruled out could point to him being ready to play in Week 18, if necessary.
The Eagles ruled one player QUESTIONABLE: Bryce Huff.
The Eagles opened Huff’s 21-day practice window to return from injured reserve last week. He was limited in practice all week before being ruled out prior to Week 16. He’s since been full go in practice this week. Seems like he might be able to get back on the field after missing five games. Huff obviously wasn’t living up to expectations prior to his wrist injury but he still has the potential to be a positive contributor as a role player in the Eagles’ pass rush rotation. The team has until 4:00 PM Eastern on Saturday to activate Huff from IR in time for Sunday’s game. They’ll have to open up a roster spot for him.
A.J. Brown and Josh Sweat are notably not listed with game statuses. They were upgraded from limited on Thursday to full go on Friday.

The Eagles opened Huff’s 21-day practice window to return from IR on December 18. Goedert is eligible to return after Week 17. Young and Bradberry are eligible to be activated if/when the Eagles desire to activate them, which isn’t looking likely. Graham is seemingly out for the season due to a triceps injury, though he didn’t totally rule out a chance of him playing in the Super Bowl. BVS is out for the season due to a knee injury. Clark is out for the season since he was placed on IR back in May.
DALLAS COWBOYS INJURY REPORT (FRIDAY)
The Cowboys ruled three players OUT: starting wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, fill-in starting cornerback Amani Oruwariye, and depth cornerback/special teams contributor Kemon Hall.
Lamb’s absence is obviously a huge deal since he’s the Cowboys’ best passing target by far.
Oruwariye and Hall being out isn’t ideal for a Cowboys team that’s already missing Trevon Diggs, Caelen Carson, and Josh Butler to IR. Dallas is seriously banged up at cornerback.
The Cowboys ruled one player DOUBTFUL: T.J. Bass.
Bass did not practice this week. He’s made some starts for Dallas this year in addition to providing interior depth.
The Cowboys ruled seven players questionable. Among them: starting wide receiver Jalen Tolbert, starting left tackle Chuma Edoga, starting linebacker Eric Kendricks, and starting safety Donovan Wilson.
Dallas is already missing a bunch of starters. They might be missing even more.
