For Some, The Opportunity to Celebrate Isn’t An Opportunity at All.
You know that big life milestone — expecting a child, a first job offer, an acceptance to college? The one where you still remember where you were when the call came in with the good news?
For some people however, they just have to ruin every special moment.
It’s been nearly four months since Dallas was thoroughly annihilated by the Eagles first 2024 opponent in Sao Paulo, Brazil — The Green Bay Packers in the NFL Playoffs. This week, the Cowboys decided to celebrate their 2024–2025 NFL Schedule release with calls to some very important people who undoubtedly were excited.
When comedian Shane Gillis received a surprise FaceTime Call along with many other celebrities staring at a nicely staged silhouette of Dallas Cowboys players arranged with owner Jerry Jones on the other end of the call, he bellowed with laughter.
Gillis took it in stride, smiling and before the call dropped delivering a “Go Birds” at the staged Cowboys scene on the other end of the call.
Some other important NFL calls have gone awry as well. In 2020, when Dallas drafted CeeDee Lamb, the Oklahoma wide receiver had to snatch his phone away from his girlfriend to receive the call. This year, Eagles first round draft pick Quinyon Mitchell missed the call from the Eagles and finally connected on a secondary phone.
Other celebrities also received a FaceTime Call with some frozen Dallas Cowboys on the other end. On many, laughter turned to a litany of expletives strung together in sentences such as the world has never seen before staring at Cowboy players.
Sorry Dallas.
