A Tumultuous NFL Career that Began With the Eagles Takes Yet Another Turn.
Last week — on his third NFL team since the Eagles —wide receiver Jalen Reagor was cut from the New England Patriots Practice Squad. On the same day, he posted photo of a Bugatti parked outside of a trailer (you should really garage that thing!) He then signed with the Los Angeles Chargers Practice Squad. Some players just have nine lives.
In November of 2021 — as Nick Sirianni’s Eagles were working to position themselves to be a .500 team — the larger objective was to become a playoff team. Down 13–7 with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter — Jalen Hurts lofted a pass on 4th and 10 towards the end zone. Former first-round draft pick Jalen Reagor elevated at the one yard line — out-positioning the defender. Unfortunately — he didn’t come down with the football. His quote to the media after the late November game where he missed a couple of opportunities was, “just two drops.”
That late November game in the Meadowlands was another example of why the former TCU product didn’t work out for the Eagles after plenty of opportunity to shine. Before the Eagles released Reagor — after doing everything possible to get the ball in his hands– Howie Roseman’s selection would come under unusual scrutiny as former LSU and Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson was still available when the Eagles took Reagor. Ironically — he would end up on the same Minnesota Vikings team as Justin Jefferson.
The Eagles would make the playoffs in 2021 — but would trade Reagor to the Minnesota Vikings the following year in 2022. The trade equity would play a part in landing both A.J. Brown and drafting DeVonta Smith.
So, yes — it did work out well in the end.
