An Overwhelming Performance Against the Commanders Has Brought the Eagles Their Second Super Bowl Birth in Three Seasons.
On Saturday Night — Washington Commanders fans in Philadelphia rallied at the Hard Rock Cafe in Center City. Philadelphia Eagles fans in the City — barely even noticed. The Jayden Daniels Show — which was supposed to be a opportunity for the national media to annoint the Commanders quarterback — with a crown that could be won by dazzling Lincoln Financial Field and pulling off the NFC Championship upset against the Eagles. What the Commanders got — was blown out.
If you watched the NFC Championship Game on Sunday afternoon — you saw a multitude of tush-pushing-dump-trucking-brotherly-shoves taking up what seemed like an hour, Saquon Barkley scoring touchdown after touchdown, A.J. Brown having an animated dispute that almost turned into a UFC match against the Commander’s Marshon Lattimore in the end zone, and those Eagles rookies — who were flying all over the field and making impacts like veterans and not first-year Eagles players. But if a 55–23 Eagles win wasn’t thrilling enough for you — here are some stats that may dazzle those little grey cells between now and Super Bowl Sunday.

The Eagles are the first team in NFL history to start two rookie defensive backs in the NFC Championship Game and now the Super Bowl. It is also the first time in franchise history that the Eagles have two rookie defensive backs nominated for the AP’s Rookie of the Year. It’s also the first time that Sunday featured the most points scored by a team in a Championship Game (55) and only the second team to eclipse 50 (51 scored by the Buffalo Bills in the 1991 AFC Championship Game.) Jalen Hurts now owns the playoff record for rushing touchdowns for a quarterback in the playoffs. The Eagles seven rushing touchdowns actually tie an NFL record set in 1940 — when the Bears did it.
In case you were wondering — that team that the Bears scored seven rushing touchdowns against? That was Washington. And the 1991 Buffalo Bills? They would lose to the N.Y. Giants in the Super Bowl — a game that they should have won the were it not for one missed field goal.
Congratulations Philly.
