When is Comes to Athletics, Cooper DeJean has Never Known Anything But Success.
Nearly a month after a Ronde Barber interception return for a touchdown closed Veteran’s Stadium and the Eagles best chance at a Super Bowl in almost 25 years in the 2003 NFC Championship Game, Cooper DeJean was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
In high school, DeJean was a natural athlete. It wasn’t enough to be a football all-star. He had to add track, baseball, and basketball to the mix, too.
As a four-star athlete in high school, Cooper scored 1,832 points in high school (including some incredible dunk footage.) His totals in high school rank in the state of Iowa second only to Minnesota Vikings Tight End T.J Hockenson. When he graduated from high school, he held the fastest 100-yard dash time in the State of Iowa.
But for Cooper DeJean, football was in his blood.
While attending a consolidated High School (OA-BCIG,) DeJean played quarterback and defensive back. He would leave high school as the holder of many school football records and would become the 2021 All-American Bowl Adidas Player of the Year. During his senior year, DeJean threw for 3,447 yards and 35 touchdowns accompanied by 1,235 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns.
In the Iowa State Title Game against Van Meter — Cooper DeJean had a two-minute stretch where he recorded two tackles, brought a punt back fourteen yards, ran for 22 yards, completed two passes for 52 yards, and score twice while adding a two-point conversion.
DeJean’s workout/hype video for the new Eagles draft pick was titled No Days Off.
With that work ethic, he’ll be a slam dunk in Philadelphia. No doubt.
