With the 18th overall pick in the 2025 Bleeding Green Nation community mock draft, Seattle Seahawks GM herbalonius selects …
Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan
Wow, this year’s draft went off the rails! With QB-needy teams galore, QB 1 didn’t go until pick 3! Given the picks so far, I’d actually expect John Schneider to trade down a little bit for someone to take a shot at Shedeur.
But anyway, here we are at 18 without a trade. So, with the way this draft has fallen, the pick here satisfies all the Seahawks fans unhappy at how Noah Fant has NOT emerged as a top-tier pass-catching tight end. We are talking about Colston Loveland, TE from Michigan!
Sure John Schneider and Mike McDonald are chomping at the bit for guards and centers and edge rushers, oh my! But I’m betting at least 2 of the FOUR ROUND 2 AND 3 PICKS are going towards the interior offensive line. And some more depth longshots at edge rusher on day 3 for depth, while Boye Mafe and Derick Hall will undoubtedly be expected to take major steps forward in years 3 and 4 in the NFL.
But we are here to talk about how Colston Loveland gives Sam Howell, Klint Kubiak, and the Seahawks a variety of pass-catching options to spread the defense out and score lots of points! You have the young WR who just broke 1000 in his 2nd year (Jaxon-Smith Njigba) and now steps to the primary target role. You have the running back duo to throw the defense off with runs left, right and center (Kenneth Walker & Zach Charbonnet). And you have the wily small-school vet WR (Cooper Kupp), who just got let go by the only team he has known in the NFL. Add a tight end who can both catch passes and block (although this is more a work-in-progress, and you have an offense ready take the next step towards the limelight!
At 6’5 ¾” and 248 lbs, he is at the 80% height and 30% weight for TE (Mock Draftable), he has the willingness to block when needed, which will only be drilled into him harder in NFL training camp and practices. Colston shows the ability to stretch the defense vertically while also running routes with great timing, not to mention yards-after-catch ability. He is another great piece for a Seattle offense that is just waiting to jump all over defenses and make its mark.
And don’t worry, offensive line worriers. Tate Ratledge, Dylan Fairchild, or Willie Lampkin will be great guard options in round 2, and Jared Wilson or Jake Majors are solid center choices in round 3. Stop drooling over the small school guy from North Dakota State! Eagles fans know that NDSU is not nearly as good to the NFL as we’d like.
