Villanova junior guard Justin Moore was on crutches after suffering what the school is calling a “lower leg injury” in the final seconds of the No. 2 Wildcats’ 50-44 over No. 5 Houston in the South Regional final Saturday night in San Antonio.
Moore injured his leg in the final seconds of the game and then came out to the court on crutches for the net-cutting ceremony. He was consoled after the injury by Collin Gillespie, the super-senior point guard and leader of the Wildcats.
Early speculation was that Moore suffered an Achilles’ injury.
Looked like Villanova’s Justin Moore just tore his Achilles. You could see his leg pop. This is tough. Hope it ends up being something less serious pic.twitter.com/V8y92IFjcL

The 6-foot-4 junior from Maryland is Villanova’s second-leading scorer at 15.0 points per game along with 4.9 rebounds per game. He had eight points on 2-of-10 shooting with two rebounds against Houston.
Villanova is into its fourth Final Four since 2009 under coach Jay Wright, and is seeking its third NCAA championship since 2016. The Wildcats are 20-3 in the Big Dance since 2016.
Villanova is already without freshman guard Jordan Longino, done for the season with a knee injury.
