Alexsandar Gavalyugov, a 6-2 Bulgarian native, has officially signed with Villanova, the school announced in a release Saturday.
The guard is a graduate of the NBA Global Academy in Australia.
“We’re very happy to add such a promising young player to our team,” head coach Kyle Neptune said. “Alexsandar is a crafty, competitive lead guard with high level dribble, pass and shooting tools. At a young age, he has already excelled on the international stage and impacted winning. Our staff is looking forward to working with Alexsandar as he transitions to college basketball.”
Gavalyugov most recently starred at the Adidas EuroCamp, averaging 15.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. He also has experience on the U18 level playing consistently for Bulgaria in FIBA competition.
The Villanova roster now features four incoming freshmen including forwards Matthew Hodge, Josiah Moseley and Malcolm Thomas, along with Gavalyugov. The Wildcats recently retained star forward Eric Dixon, along with top transfer Wooga Poplar and portal additions Enoch Boakye, Jhamir Brickus and Tyler Perkins.
