Former Villanova head coach Jay Wright has been working as an analyst this year. So for his first ever Selection Sunday as an analyst, he predicted the Final Four.
Wright’s beloved Villanova Wildcats didn’t make the NCAA Tournament this year, so there was no opportunity for him to be a homer. Instead, he went pretty much all chalk with two 1-seeds and two 2-seeds making the Final Four.
Wright predicted Alabama, Kansas, Texas and Marquette to make the Final Four from their respective regions. He has Kansas beating Marquette to win the whole thing.
Kansas defeated Villanova in the Final Four of last year’s NCAA Tournament in what was ultimately the final game of Wright’s career. The Jayhawks went on to win their fourth national title against UNC.
Jay Wright predicted Kansas to beat Marquette in the national championship.
Bama, Texas, KU, Marquette in his Final Four.
Bold predictions.

It’s not too common for only 1- and 2-seeded teams to make the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament. A team with a 3- or lower – sometimes much lower – has pretty consistently been finding their way into the Final Four on a regular basis.
But if you think that Jay Wright has the secret sauce to figuring out a perfect bracket, then feel free to plug his Final Four into your own bracket.
The First Four of the NCAA Tournament begins on Tuesday.
