It’s preseason chatter, but it’s the lowest the Wildcats have ranked in the annual Big East preseason rankings since realignment.
The Villanova Wildcats were voted to finish in seventh in the annual Big East preseason coaches poll. The rankings were announced at Big East Media Day on Wednesday.
Villanova is coming off of a 2023-24 season where it finished 18-16 overall and 10-10 in Big East play. The Wildcats pushed eventual Big East Tournament runner-up Marquette in a close 71-65 quarterfinal matchup. They missed the NCAA Tournament for a second straight year and was bounced out of the opening round of the NIT.
It is the lowest that the Wildcats have placed in the Big East preseason coaches poll since realignment. They yielded 44 points.
