
Villanova has two All-Big East players, as Eric Dixon lands on the first team for the first time in his career.
The Big East announced its annual all-conference teams, and Villanova has two representatives among the Big East’s best.
Villanova forward Eric Dixon earned All-Big East honors for the third straight season, while newcomer Wooga Poplar also got all-conference honors.
Dixon was named to the All-Big East first team for the first time in his career, after getting second-team honors in back-to-back seasons. The nation’s leading scorer led the ‘Cats with 23.6 points per game, while also averaging 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists. He shot 46.5% overall and 42.9% from long range.
Poplar made an immediate impact in his first year at Villanova, after spending three seasons at Miami. He averaged 14.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Poplar shot 45.1% overall and 37.2% from deep.
For the first time since realignment, the Big East added an All-Big East third team. Dating back to the 2013-14 season, the Big East had two all-conference teams and several honorable mentions.
All-conference squads were voted on by league’s head coaches, and they were not permitted to select their own players.
Individual awards such as Big East Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player, Sixth Man Award and Sportsmanship Award, will be announced on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, the major individual awards, including Big East Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be announced on Wednesday afternoon, before the start of the Big East Tournament.
