Following Penn State’s loss to Ohio State, head coach James Franklin made an interesting remark during his postgame presser.
Before Franklin fielded questions from the media, he referred to Ohio State and Penn State as “two of the best teams” in college football. To be fair, he was mostly talking about their defenses.
“As always, I want to give Ohio State a ton of credit. I’m not sure, I’ll watch the tape, but I’m not sure if we didn’t just watch two of the best teams in college football,” Franklin said. “Obviously, specifically, on the defensive side of the ball.”

Franklin is receiving a ton of pushback from Penn State fans for this comment.
“They don’t give out participation points coach,” one fan said.
Another fan replied, “This is a fireable offense. Seriously. Our offense stunk. Complete dog water. And the first thing you say when addressing the media is that we looked like one of the best teams in the country?”
In Franklin’s defense, Penn State’s defense kept the team in the game. The problem, however, is that his offense couldn’t get anything going until garbage time. Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar completed just 18-of-43 pass attempts for 191 yards with a touchdown.
Penn State will have a chance to prove that its one of the best teams in the country on Nov. 11 when it hosts Michigan.
