The 6-4 Scarlet Knights are giving No. 12 Penn State all it can handle this Saturday and James Franklin is taking the brunt of it on social media.
As the Nittany Lions cling to a seven-point lead over Rutgers at home, here’s some of what fans had to say about Franklin’s coaching performance:
“Midway thru the 3rd Quarter and Penn State leads Rutgers 10-6. James Franklin spent all week tweeting about todays game. Just fire this guy already. It’s over,” Nick Kayal said.

“If I’m Drew Allar, I’d be seriously considering the Transfer Portal given the lack of recent QB development at Penn State. Any highly touted QB would be apprehensive about his football future with James Franklin at the helm,” a user replied.

“[James Franklin] needs to be fired. His absolutely horrid in game decisions overshadow his recruiting prowess at this point. It’s beyond pathetic,” a fan commented. “You have Drew Allar, and you continuously have him running QB draws instead of using 2 of the best running backs in college football? Absolutely inexcusable. Absolutely pathetic.”
Franklin’s Penn State teams have consistently been in the mix in the Big Ten, but many feel he has underachieved since arriving in Happy Valley.
The Nittany Lions have a quarter left to try to pull away. We’ll see if they can create some distance on the scoreboard over the next 15 minutes.
