Penn State’s defense won’t just be without defensive end Chop Robinson for the Peach Bowl this Saturday.
On Friday morning, Penn State head coach James Franklin announced that cornerback Johnny Dixon will not play against Ole Miss.
Dixon doesn’t have any eligibility remaining, so his decision to sit out of the Peach Bowl is most likely his way of preserving his health for the NFL Draft process.
Prior to becoming an impact player for Penn State, Dixon spent two years at South Carolina.
In three seasons with the Nittany Lions, Dixon had 59 total tackles, 15 passes defended, 7.5 sacks and three interceptions.
Penn State CB Johnny Dixon is not with the team in Atlanta, James Franklin said. He will not play in the Peach Bowl.

As of now, Penn State remains a slight favorite over Ole Miss. Dixon’s absence probably won’t change the betting line despite how productive he’s been for Franklin’s squad.
The Peach Bowl is set for 12 p.m. this Saturday. It’ll be nationally televised on ESPN.
