Colin Cowherd has a reputation for seeing himself as the smartest man in the room and if you don’t believe it just ask him. But he may have gotten too far ahead of himself with a hot take he made at today’s big USC-Penn State game.
At halftime of the game, the Trojans led the Nittany Lions 20-6 at the iconic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The score reflected a recent trend that Big Ten teams have been experiencing where they’ve struggled mightily in games they’ve played on the West Coast. So Cowherd decided to gloat a little, declaring that Penn State didn’t show up to play and may have been distracted by being so close to Hollywood.
Sporting a pair of orange tinted sunglasses that made him look like an art critic, Cowherd declared that USC head coach Lincoln Riley would be owed an apology after the game. He then declared that he “doesn’t hold grudges” and preemptively accepted all apologies.
“Some of you guys are gonna owe Lincoln Riley an apology. I don’t know if these Big Ten teams can handle coming out west, to the sunshine, and the distractions of LA. Probably not. Look at the halftime score…” Cowherd said. “I don’t hold grudges. Apologies accepted.”
Well, funny thing about that…
The Nittany Lions outscored the Trojans 24-10 in the second half to force overtime and after USC’s kicker missed his first field goal of the day, Penn State’s didn’t and the Nittany Lions took home the 33-30 overtime victory.
After the game, Cowherd got absolutely roasted for his take. Freezing Cold Takes immediately reposted his video while his comments have been flooded with people poking fun at him:
“How is this aging?” one user replied.
“The fake ID of college football takes,” wrote another.
“Imagine being this confident with Lincoln Riley as your coach,” a third said bluntly.
We’ll see if Cowherd decides to backtrack. He’s already planning on doing a response video to the game’s outcome.
We can’t wait.
