Sixers All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey walked off the court gingerly to close the third quarter. The team announced he was dealing with right hamstring soreness and would not return.
What else?
All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey left the Sixers’ game against the LA Clippers Wednesday night with what the team is calling right hamstring soreness.
Maxey could be seen on the broadcast walking off the court very gingerly after the Sixers’ disastrous third quarter ended. He headed back to the locker room and it was announced shortly after that he would not return to the game.

The Sixers would go on to lose 110-98 to the Clippers, dropping them to 1-6 on the season. Head coach Nick Nurse referred to Maxey leaving the game as “precautionary” postgame, but noted he’ll be checked out again tomorrow.
As far as things the Sixers absolutely did not need, a Maxey injury was likely No. 1 on the list. The 24-year-old hasn’t missed a game so far this season and is averaging over 30 points a night.
The Sixers are already without Joel Embiid, who missed the first six games of the season while managing his left knee and began serving a three-game suspension Wednesday night after a physical altercation with Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Marcus Hayes.
Paul George is also still getting acclimated to his new team after missing the first five games with a left knee bone bruise. He did look better than his season debut vs. the Phoenix Suns Monday, finishing with 18 points (7-of-9) seven rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block in 23 minutes in his return to L.A.
The Sixers close out their three-game West Coast trip Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers before returning home to take on the Charlotte Hornets Sunday. Embiid is expected to make his 2024-25 season debut Tuesday against the New York Knicks.
