New York City is in a frenzy for the Knicks, and it shows in the ticket price for tonight’s playoff game.
With the Knicks up 3-1 on the Philadelphia 76ers and coming home for a chance to win the series, tickets for Game 5 at Madison Square Garden are insanely expensive.
According to TickPick, the cheapest ticket as of this afternoon was $625, a record for the resale service.
“This marks the most expensive first-round game ticket in TickPick’s history,” said The NBA Central X/Twitter account. “For comparison, the cheapest ticket for Game 1 of last season’s NBA Finals were $373.”
If the Knicks eliminate Philly, expect prices to rise the deeper the team advances in the postseason. Last year was the first time New York won a playoff series in a decade, and the franchise hasn’t reached the Eastern Conference Finals since 2000.
The Knicks’ ever-loyal fanbase is rabid and starving, and that means if you want to see a game at the World’s Most Famous Arena this spring, you’d better be prepared to pay up.
New York is coming off a 97-92 win in Game 4 behind point guard Jalen Brunson’s otherworldly 47-point performance. The Knicks won the first two games of this series despite Brunson struggling with his shot, and the All-Star floor general found his form down in Philadelphia, scoring 96 points and shooting 31-for-61 in two games.
Game 5 between the Knicks and Sixers will tip off at 7 p.m. ET on TNT.
