Sydney Kings star Jaylin Galloway is still far from being the finished product in professional basketball but has all the makings of an exciting NBA prospect.
His progress has been hampered by a shoulder injury that has ruled him out for the remainder of this season, but he can still make it to the big league.
Galloway was eligible to be selected in the 2022 NBA draft but was not chosen. He subsequently signed a three-year contract extension with the Kings in March 2023.
A stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the 2023 NBA Summer League followed, and his performances garnered attention from other teams.
He played 23 games in the 2023/24 season for the Kings, averaging 10.3 points and 3.4 rebounds in 22.3 minutes per game.
Galloway signed a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks in March 2024 but was waived the following August and is now back with the Kings.
While Galloway did not log any minutes with the Bucks, the odds of him returning to the NBA are relatively favorable, given the potential he has shown in Australia.
He could still make a name for himself with Milwaukee, but the Sixers should keep a close eye on his progress when he returns to action.
The latest NBA odds at Betway highlight how far Philadelphia has fallen this season, and a squad revamp is needed over the next couple of summers.

Galloway’s main goal will be to accrue as much playing time as possible with the Kings while developing his game in a league that has launched the careers of several NBA stars.
His development has been halted by the shoulder injury, which he had surgery to address. However, the Kings are optimistic about his return and believe he is crucial to their plans.
Galloway is already a solid defensive player but needs to become a more consistent three-point shooter. He must make himself more of a threat from beyond the arc.
His playmaking for teammates and ability to create opportunities for his shots could also be better. If he can improve this side of his game, he could play as a secondary playmaker in an NBA rotation.
Jae’Sean Tate and Torrey Craig are among the players who have used the NBL as a stepping stone before joining NBA franchises. Tate played for the Kings before earning a move to the Houston Rockets in 2020.
Tate was named to the All-NBL First Team in his only season with the Australian team. Galloway must dominate the NBL to follow in his footsteps to the NBA.
Galloway remains an exciting talent and has all the tools to make a name for himself in the NBA. The time he spent with the Timberwolves and Bucks shows that NBA teams are aware of his talents.
He has the perfect platform with the Kings to refine his game in Australia and may ultimately get another opportunity with an NBA team.
Galloway must focus on coming back stronger following his surgery. He reportedly has a superb work ethic, which will undoubtedly help his bid to climb the basketball ranks.
Given his potential, there is every chance he can use the Kings as a pathway to securing another NBA contract, but he still has some growing to do.
