The Philadelphia 76ers are not planning to extend Tyrese Maxey this offseason, sources tell ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.
The Sixers still value Maxey as a big part of their long-term plans, but they’re preferring to delay an extension to preserve flexibility. With a $13 million cap hold in 2024, the Sixers can maintain a chance of cap space. Maxey will be a restricted free agent in 2024.
During the 22-23 season, Maxey averaged 20.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 33.6 minutes. Maxey figures to take on a bigger role for the Sixers in 23-24 with the team set to trade away James Harden.
Maxey is represented by Rich Paul.
